About
Thomas Ficho, M.D., Ph.D.
Concierge Internal Medicine
Thomas Ficho grew up in Lincolnwood, attending Niles West High School. He received a BS in Biology from the University of Denver and a Masters and Doctorate in Immunology from the University of Illinois Medical School. He served as a postdoctoral fellow at Rush. He earned his M.D. from Northwestern University. After choosing internal medicine as a specialty, he did a three-year internal medicine residency and then a year as chief medical resident at Evanston Hospital. He is board-certified in internal medicine. Currently he holds the rank of Senior Attending Physician in the NorthShore University Health System. He has been in private practice since 1985, not beholding to any larger entity.
In addition to those responsibilities of a primary care specialist, his major clinic interests include longevity, metabolic and cardiac risk reduction, and keeping patients out of the health care system. Many of the suggestions you might hear are about living better for longer which is becoming a burgeoning area of medical research. Imagine if everybody could have a higher level of health by just calling on your own body’s genetics to lead to this goal.

Professional Interests
As part of his commitment to your long-term health and wellness, his philosophy is to educate you about the importance of fitness, weight management, healthy living and, in addition to the clinical services already offered through his practice, he will assist you to identify and evaluate other wellness providers and offerings. This will support your effort to take an active role in managing and maintaining your good health.
Dr. Ficho developed an interest in computers in medicine in 1997. While president of Orchard Medical Group, he worked on an alpha/beta development team of an electronic medical record developed by Siemens Health Systems. Dr. Ficho served on the Siemens Physician Advisory Panel for three years and used this electronic medical record through January of 2005. In February of 2005 he began using Epic, the community-based medical record used by the NorthShore University HealthSystem (meaning that all of your NorthShore-based physicians contribute to one comprehensive medical record).
